- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and add the sugar, stirring until it becomes a caramel color.
- Add the sliced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice to the skillet, cooking until the apples are tender.
- Roll out the pie crust on a baking sheet and create a slight border around the edges.
- Spoon the caramelized apple mixture onto the center of the crust.
- Fold the edges of the crust over the apples, pleating as necessary.
- Brush the crust with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
