Ingredients
Scale
- For the Dough:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- For the Apple Filling:
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- For the Topping:
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, prepare the apple filling by mixing diced apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, and lemon juice in a bowl.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and spread it onto a greased baking sheet, creating dimples with your fingers.
- Evenly distribute the apple filling over the dough, pressing it slightly into the surface.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Let it cool slightly, then mix powdered sugar with milk to create a glaze and drizzle over the focaccia before serving.

- For a vegan version, substitute milk with almond milk and use a plant-based butter for the glaze.
