Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the blackberries and half of the brown sugar. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, remaining brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish.
  6. Evenly distribute the blackberry mixture over the batter.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
