These spooky Bleeding Black Halloween Cupcakes are a deliciously dark treat that will impress your guests at any Halloween gathering.

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup black food coloring
- 1 cup raspberry or cherry jam (for bleeding effect)
- 1 cup buttercream frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, buttermilk, and black food coloring to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with the batter.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool completely before decorating.
- Once cooled, use a small knife to cut a hole in the center of each cupcake and fill it with raspberry or cherry jam.
- Frost the cupcakes with buttercream frosting and drizzle more jam on top for a bleeding effect.
Notes
- For a more intense black color, you can add more black food coloring as needed.
- Make sure the cupcakes are completely cool before adding the jam to prevent it from melting.
- These cupcakes can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
