Ingredients
These ingredients come together to form a powerhouse of flavor:
-
π 2 oz vodka or gin β Choose vodka for a neutral base, or gin for a botanical touch.
-
π 1.5 oz blue raspberry syrup β Homemade or store-bought.
-
π 1 oz fresh lemon juice β Brightens and balances the sweetness.
-
π₯ 3β4 oz sparkling water or club soda β Adds effervescence.
-
βοΈ Ice cubes β To shake and serve cold.
-
π Lemon wheel or twist β For garnish and aroma.
-
π Fresh blueberries or raspberries β Optional garnish for a berry boost.
-
πΏ Fresh mint sprig β Adds a fragrant finish.
Note: For a sweeter take, you can use lemon-lime soda or tonic water in place of club soda.
Instructions
Pop your serving glass (highball, coupe, or martini) into the freezer for about 10 minutes. If youβre short on time, fill it with ice and water while you prepare the drink.
In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka (or gin), blue raspberry syrup, and lemon juice. Add a generous amount of ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. This chills the drink and blends the flavors smoothly.
Discard the ice in your serving glass. Strain the cocktail into your chilled glass. Then top with 3β4 oz of sparkling water or soda, depending on your desired fizz and flavor concentration.
Garnish with a lemon wheel or twist, a few fresh berries, and a mint sprig. Not only does it add a splash of color, but it also gives a lovely aroma with every sip.
The bubbles will be freshest right after pouring. Serve with a colorful straw or cocktail pick for flair.
Notes
These cocktails are very forgiving, but here are some notes to keep them consistently perfect:
-
β Use fresh lemon juiceβbottled versions donβt provide the same crisp acidity.
-
β Avoid overly sweet syrups if using soda; balance is key.
-
β Homemade blue raspberry syrup offers richer flavor than store-bought varieties.
