Bora Bora Buzz

  • Author: Jessica
  • Total Time: 7 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 oz dark rum – Adds depth, spice, and molasses-like richness.

  • 1 oz coconut rum – Brings creamy, sweet coconut flavor reminiscent of sandy beach bars.

  • 1 oz pineapple juice (chilled) – Offers brightness, sweetness, and tropical zing.

  • 1 oz orange juice (chilled) – Rounds out the fruity profile with citrusy freshness.

  • ½ oz lime juice (freshly squeezed) – Adds acidity and sharpness for balance.

  • ½ oz passion fruit syrup or purée – The exotic backbone of the drink, bringing floral, tart, and sweet complexity.

  • Dash of Angostura bitters (optional) – Enhances aroma and adds a slightly spicy herbal note.

  • Ice cubes

  • Garnish: Pineapple wedge and mint sprig

Instructions

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

Make sure all your juices are chilled, and your ingredients are fresh. Use fresh lime juice—bottled just doesn’t bring the same brightness.

Step 2: Fill Your Shaker

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add:

  • 1 oz dark rum

  • 1 oz coconut rum

  • 1 oz pineapple juice

  • 1 oz orange juice

  • ½ oz lime juice

  • ½ oz passion fruit syrup or purée

  • Dash of Angostura bitters (if using)

Step 3: Shake It Like You Mean It

Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds. You want to chill the drink well and slightly dilute it for a smoother mouthfeel.

Step 4: Strain and Serve

Strain into a highball glass or tiki mug filled with fresh ice cubes.

Step 5: Garnish to Impress

Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a fresh mint sprig. Optionally, add a colorful cocktail umbrella or edible flower for flair.

Notes

The magic of the Bora Bora Buzz lies in the harmony of bold and mellow. The dark rum gives weight, the coconut rum adds tropical comfort, and the fruit juices and syrup make it all sing. The dash of bitters is optional but elevates the drink into cocktail bar territory.

Don’t skip the garnish. Pineapple and mint don’t just look pretty—they release aroma as you sip, enhancing the sensory experience.
