Ingredients

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Caramel sauce for glazing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your donut pan thoroughly.
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Combine the apple cider, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
  4. Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Spoon the batter into the donut pan cavities, filling each about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool them in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  8. Drizzle with caramel sauce while still warm.

Notes

For a healthier alternative, substitute whole wheat flour or half of the butter with unsweetened applesauce.
