Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup whipped topping
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package instructions using water, oil, and eggs.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  6. Using the end of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
  7. Pour the caramel sauce over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
  8. Spread the apple pie filling evenly over the top of the cake.
  9. In a bowl, mix the whipped topping with ground cinnamon and spread it over the apple filling.
  10. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
