- 2 lbs chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons Chinese rice wine
- 1 tablespoon five-spice powder
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice wine, five-spice powder, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and food coloring.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the marinated chicken on a baking sheet lined with foil.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, basting with the marinade halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and caramelized.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve with steamed rice and vegetables.
Notes
- For a more intense flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to your taste.
- Serve with a side of pickled vegetables for a traditional touch.
