Ingredients

- 4 cups water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 jalapeños, diced
- 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions
- In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Slowly whisk in the grits, reduce heat to low, and cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the grits are thick and creamy, stir in the butter, cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños, salt, and black pepper.
- Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and everything is well combined.
- Serve hot in bowls, garnished with extra jalapeños or cheese if desired.
Notes
- For a milder version, remove the seeds from the jalapeños.
- Can be served as a side dish or a main course.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
