Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with Cheesy Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread, where the crispy, buttery garlic bread meets a savory, juicy sloppy joe filling. Each bite bursts with rich flavors, complemented by the gooey, melted cheese that adds a delightful creaminess to the crunchy texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Garlic Bread:
    • 1 loaf of French bread
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • For the Sloppy Joe Filling:
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
    • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
    • 1 cup ketchup
    • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon mustard
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley until well combined.
  3. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both halves.
  4. Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  5. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  6. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  8. Remove the bread from the oven and spoon the sloppy joe mixture generously over each half.
  9. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Slice and serve warm, garnished with extra parsley if desired.

Notes

  • This dish can be made ahead by preparing the sloppy joe filling and storing it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Store leftover garlic bread in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days; reheat in the oven for best results.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with lentils or a plant-based meat alternative.
