These Christmas Chocolate Marshmallow M&M Bars are a delightful treat that combines a rich, fudgy chocolate base with a gooey marshmallow layer and a colorful topping of M&M candies. - For the Marshmallow Layer:
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- For the Topping:
- 1 cup M&M candies
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the mini marshmallows on top. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, until the marshmallows are puffed and slightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the M&M candies over the marshmallows, pressing them gently into the marshmallow layer.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
Notes
- These bars can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- For longer storage, freeze the bars for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
- You can substitute the M&M candies with chocolate chips or nuts for a different flavor profile.
