Description

These Christmas Drizzle Vanilla Macarons are a delightful treat, featuring a crisp outer shell that gives way to a creamy, luscious vanilla buttercream filling. Each bite is a harmonious blend of sweet and subtle flavors, enhanced by a festive drizzle of white chocolate that adds a touch of elegance and richness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Macaron Shells:
    • 1 cup almond flour
    • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
    • 3 large egg whites, aged for 24 hours
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Pinch of salt
  • Vanilla Buttercream Filling:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 2 cups powdered sugar
    • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • White Chocolate Drizzle:
    • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar to remove any lumps.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the aged egg whites with a pinch of salt until foamy, then gradually add the granulated sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the meringue in three additions, being careful not to deflate the mixture.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and mix until just combined. The batter should flow like lava.
  6. Transfer the batter to a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe 1.5-inch circles onto the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Let the piped macarons sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes until a skin forms on the surface.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the shells are firm and can be lifted off the parchment without sticking.
  9. Allow the shells to cool completely before filling.
  10. For the buttercream, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Pipe a dollop of buttercream onto the flat side of one macaron and sandwich with another shell.
  12. Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Drizzle over the assembled macarons.
  13. Let the macarons set for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
