- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the sour cream and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle with half of the cinnamon mixture, then add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon mixture.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.
- Once the cake has cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting on top.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use brown sugar in the cake batter.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- This cake can be made a day in advance for better flavor.
