Description

Classic Salisbury Steak Patties with Onion Gravy are a comforting dish that combines juicy, seasoned beef patties with a rich, savory onion gravy. The tender texture of the patties contrasts beautifully with the smooth, velvety sauce, creating a delightful flavor experience that warms the soul.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Patties:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp onion powder
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Onion Gravy:
    • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 2 cups beef broth
    • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp soy sauce
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook for about 10 minutes until onions are caramelized and golden brown.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir to combine, cooking for an additional minute.
  6. Gradually add beef broth and soy sauce, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  7. Return the patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over them. Simmer for 5 minutes to heat through.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
