Description

Crockpot French Onion Beef Sandwiches are a savory delight, featuring tender, slow-cooked beef infused with rich onion flavor. The combination of melted cheese and a crusty roll creates a satisfying texture that complements the juicy, flavorful meat perfectly.


Ingredients

  • Beef: 2 pounds of chuck roast, trimmed and cut into large chunks
  • Onions: 4 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • Broth: 4 cups beef broth
  • Seasonings: 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheese: 8 slices of provolone cheese
  • Bread: 4 crusty hoagie rolls, sliced open

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, sauté the sliced onions over medium heat until they are caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Transfer the caramelized onions to the crockpot and add the beef chunks, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours, until the beef is tender and easily shredded.
  4. Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks and stir to combine with the onions and broth.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet, fill each with the beef mixture, and top with provolone cheese.
  7. Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
