Dorito Taco Salad Recipe

Ingredients

These ingredients come together to form a powerhouse of flavor:

  • 🌽 1 bag (about 10 oz) Nacho Cheese Doritos (or your favorite Dorito flavor)

  • 🥩 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey, chicken, or black beans for vegetarian)

  • 🌶️ 1 packet taco seasoning mix (or homemade blend)

  • 🥬 1 head romaine lettuce, chopped

  • 🍅 2 medium tomatoes, diced

  • 🧅 ½ cup red onion, finely chopped

  • 🧀 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 🥑 1 ripe avocado, diced

  • 🧄 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 🌶️ 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional, for spice)

  • 🌽 ½ cup canned corn kernels, drained (optional)

  • 🧄 ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

  • 🥄 ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

  • 🍋 2 tbsp lime juice

  • 🧂 Salt and pepper to taste

  • 🧴 Olive oil for cooking


Instructions

Step 1: Cook and season the ground beef

Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and jalapeño and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the beef, add ½ cup water, and simmer until thickened and fully flavored. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 2: Prepare the fresh veggies

Wash and chop the romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Dice the tomatoes, avocado, and finely chop the red onion and cilantro. Drain corn if using.

Step 3: Mix the dressing

In a small bowl, combine the sour cream (or Greek yogurt), lime juice, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Step 4: Assemble the salad

In a large salad bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, corn, and cilantro. Add the cooked taco meat on top, then sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 5: Add Doritos and avocado

Just before serving, crush the Doritos roughly (leave some bigger chunks for texture) and sprinkle over the salad. Gently fold in diced avocado to avoid mashing.

Step 6: Drizzle dressing and serve

Pour the lime crema dressing over the salad and toss lightly. Serve immediately for maximum crunch.
