Description
Elegant Stuffed Leeks with Beef is a culinary masterpiece that combines the tender, slightly sweet flavor of leeks with a savory, juicy beef filling. Each bite offers a creamy texture that contrasts beautifully with the crispness of the leeks, creating a delightful sensory experience that is both comforting and sophisticated.
Ingredients
- Leeks: 4 large leeks, trimmed and cleaned
- Ground Beef: 1 pound, preferably grass-fed
- Onion: 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
- Breadcrumbs: 1 cup, preferably fresh
- Parmesan Cheese: 1/2 cup, grated
- Heavy Cream: 1/2 cup
- Egg: 1 large, beaten
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
- Fresh Parsley: 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned, approximately 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, heavy cream, beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Prepare the leeks by cutting them in half lengthwise and blanching them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender. Drain and cool.
- Carefully stuff each leek half with the beef mixture, pressing gently to pack it in.
- Place the stuffed leeks in a baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Make-ahead: You can prepare the stuffed leeks a day in advance and store them in the refrigerator before baking.
- Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Substitutions: Ground turkey or chicken can be used instead of beef for a lighter option.
