Ingredients
Scale
- Crab Filling:
- 1 pound lump crab meat, picked over for shells
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup red bell pepper, finely chopped
- Breading:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs

Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, green onions, and red bell pepper. Mix gently until well combined.
- Form the mixture into 1.5-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for panko breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each crab ball in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the crab bombs in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Make-ahead: You can prepare the crab filling a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Form the balls and bread them just before frying.
- Storage: Leftover crab bombs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Substitutions: For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise, or substitute crab with shrimp or lobster.
