Ingredients
These ingredients come together to form a powerhouse of tropical refreshment:
-
๐ 1 cup fresh red dragonfruit (pitaya), cubed or scooped
-
๐ 3/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4โ5 lemons)
-
๐ฏ 1/2 cup simple syrup (or adjust to taste)
-
๐ง 2 cups cold water
-
๐ซง 1 1/2 cups sparkling water, soda water, or lemon-lime soda
-
๐ง Ice cubes for serving
-
๐ฟ Fresh mint or basil for garnish (optional)
-
๐ Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
-
๐ธ Edible flowers (optional, for presentation)
Instructions
If using fresh dragonfruit, scoop or cut it into chunks. Add it to a blender with 1/2 cup of water and blend until completely smooth. If desired, strain through a mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp. If youโre using pre-packaged dragonfruit puree, skip this step.
In a pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, dragonfruit puree, simple syrup, and remaining cold water. Stir well to mix the flavors. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
Just before serving, pour in the sparkling water. Stir gently to keep the bubbles intact. You can use club soda for a light fizz, or lemon-lime soda for a sweeter finish.
Fill tall glasses with ice cubes and pour in the fizzy dragonfruit lemonade. Add garnishes like lemon slices, mint sprigs, or edible flowers to make it extra gorgeous.
Serve immediately for maximum fizz and freshness. Stir before sipping to mix the fruit layers and bubbles.
Notes
This recipe is extremely forgiving, but a few small touches can really elevate the result:
-
Use ripe red dragonfruit for the brightest pink color and best flavor.
-
Blend the dragonfruit with a splash of lemon juice for an even more vibrant pink.
-
Donโt add the sparkling water until the very end to preserve the fizz.
-
For the clearest look, strain your pureeโbut for extra fiber, keep it pulpy.
