Fruit Loop Fantasy: A Colorful, Layered Cocktail with Childhood Charm

  • Author: Jessica
  • Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to build the Fruit Loop Fantasy, organized by layers:

Green Layer (Bottom)

  • 2 oz Midori (melon liqueur)

  • 1 oz lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

  • Splash of Limoncello (for extra citrus zing)

  • 1/2 oz pineapple rum

  • 1/2 oz triple sec

  • 2 oz pineapple soda (or lemon-lime soda for a lighter taste)

Red Layer (Top)

  • 1 oz strawberry vodka

  • 1 oz raspberry vodka

  • 2 oz strawberry juice (or strawberry-pineapple blend)

  • Splash of cherry juice (for color and tartness)

Garnish

  • Fruit Loops cereal

  • Maraschino cherry

  • Optional: Rim glass with crushed Fruit Loops for an added decorative touch

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Your Glass

Choose a tall, clear glass to showcase the layering. Chill it in the freezer for 10 minutes, or fill with ice water and dump before pouring the drink.

Optional: Rim the glass with simple syrup and crushed Fruit Loops for a fun, textured finish.

Step 2: Mix the Green Layer

In a shaker filled with ice, combine:

  • 2 oz Midori

  • 1 oz lemon juice

  • Splash of Limoncello

  • 1/2 oz pineapple rum

  • 1/2 oz triple sec

  • Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds.

Pour the shaken green layer into the bottom of your glass. Slowly add 2 oz of pineapple soda, pouring gently to preserve the carbonation and color.

Step 3: Build the Red Layer

In a separate shaker (or small mixing glass), stir together:

  • 1 oz strawberry vodka

  • 1 oz raspberry vodka

  • 2 oz strawberry juice

  • Splash of cherry juice

To float the red layer over the green, pour slowly over the back of a spoon held just above the green layer. This allows the red mixture to layer without disturbing the green.

Note: The key to proper layering is density. Juices and spirits with higher sugar content (like the red mix) tend to sit on top of lighter soda-based layers.

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

Thread a few Fruit Loops onto a cocktail skewer or let them float on top for a playful finish. Add a maraschino cherry on top or nestle it in the red layer.

Serve immediately with a wide straw or long cocktail spoon.
