Description

Soft and fluffy potato bread rolls with a hint of sweetness, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Combine the mashed potatoes, warmed milk, melted butter, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Sprinkle the active dry yeast across the mixture and let it bloom for about 5 minutes.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it into golf ball-sized rolls.
  7. Arrange the rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg if desired.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

For a make-ahead option, prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate until the next day.
