Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, melt the butter and mix in the sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the red food coloring until the batter is evenly colored.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. While the brownies are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating the cream cheese until smooth, then gradually adding the powdered sugar and milk until creamy.
  10. Once the brownies are cool, spread the cream cheese frosting on top and cut into squares.
