Ingredients
These ingredients come together to form a powerhouse of flavor:
For the Bomb Shot (the “island bomb”):
-
???? 1 oz coconut rum – tropical, creamy backbone
-
???? ½ oz strawberry liqueur or syrup – adds a fruity pop
-
???? Splash of fresh lime juice – balances with acidity
For the Cocktail Base (the “breeze”):
-
???? 4 oz pineapple juice – juicy tropical flavor
-
???? 2 oz orange soda or lemon-lime soda – fizzy, citrusy lift
-
???? Crushed ice – for chill and texture
-
???? Maraschino cherry – garnish
-
???? Pineapple wedge – garnish (optional)
-
???? Mint sprig – optional, for aromatic finish
Instructions
Step 1: Mix the Bomb Shot
In a shot glass, combine coconut rum, strawberry liqueur (or syrup), and lime juice. Stir gently and set aside. This is your “island bomb.”
Step 2: Prepare the Cocktail Base
In a large cocktail or highball glass, add crushed ice. Pour in the pineapple juice and orange soda (or lemon-lime soda). Stir lightly to mix.
Step 3: Drop the Bomb
When ready to serve, drop the shot glass into the cocktail base. The flavors will explode together as the shot blends with the soda and juice.
Step 4: Garnish
Top the glass with a maraschino cherry, pineapple wedge, and/or mint sprig for a festive finish.
Step 5: Sip and Enjoy Immediately!
The bomb effect is best experienced right away—drink after the shot is dropped for full flavor fusion.
Notes
These bombs are very forgiving, but a few key tips ensure success:
-
Keep all ingredients cold—warm soda will foam up and ruin the balance.
-
If using fresh fruit juice, strain it first to avoid pulp or grit in the cocktail.
-
Always drop the shot right before serving to preserve the bomb effect
