- 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
- 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- For Topping:
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced potatoes, cooked sausage mixture, heavy cream, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- In a separate bowl, mix breadcrumbs, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
