Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Casserole:
    • 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
    • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
    • 1 medium onion, diced
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • For Topping:
    • 1 cup breadcrumbs
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the sliced potatoes, cooked sausage mixture, heavy cream, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix breadcrumbs, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the casserole.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
