Ingredients

- 8 oz whole wheat pasta
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the whole wheat pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pasta pot.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add minced garlic and red pepper flakes.
- Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Drain the pasta and broccoli, then add them to the skillet.
- Toss everything together, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
Notes
- For a vegan option, omit the Parmesan cheese.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like cherry tomatoes or spinach.
- This dish can be served warm or cold as a pasta salad.
