Ingredients
Scale
- For the Mac and Cheese:
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the Rolls:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 8 slices of cooked bacon, chopped
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package of egg roll wrappers
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, whisk in flour, and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
- Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Mix in the cooked macaroni and set aside to cool.
- In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in chopped bacon, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface, place a spoonful of mac and cheese and a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center, and roll tightly, sealing the edges with water.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the rolls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels before serving.
Notes
- Make-ahead: Prepare the mac and cheese and beef mixture a day in advance and assemble the rolls just before frying.
- Storage: Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Substitutions: Use turkey bacon for a lighter option or swap out cheddar for your favorite cheese.
