Description

A sweet and savory appetizer featuring crispy bacon and buttery crackers glazed with maple syrup and brown sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 Buttery Rectangular Crackers (e.g., Club or Ritz)
  • 8 Slices Bacon, cut into thirds
  • 1/3 Cup Pure Maple Syrup
  • 1/3 Cup Packed Light Brown Sugar
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • Pinch Cayenne Pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and set a wire rack on top.
  3. Arrange the crackers evenly in a single layer on the wire rack.
  4. Place one slice of bacon atop each cracker, letting the ends hang slightly over.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, brown sugar, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until smooth.
  6. Spoon or brush the maple-brown sugar mixture over each bacon-topped cracker.
  7. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, monitoring closely to avoid burning.
  8. Allow to cool on the rack for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Consider using turkey bacon or low-sugar maple syrup for a lighter version. These crackers make a great addition to charcuterie boards.
