- 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed to 110°F
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Incorporate softened butter gradually, kneading until fully absorbed, about 5 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Notes
- This brioche can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Freeze leftovers for up to 2 months; thaw at room temperature before serving.
- For a richer flavor, substitute half of the milk with cream.
