Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron to medium-high heat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- In a small bowl, toss the diced apple with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Fold the apple mixture into the batter gently.
- Spray the waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the center of the waffle iron and close the lid. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the waffle donut and repeat with the remaining batter.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the warm donuts before serving.
