Mocha Mudslide Shot

  • Author: Jessica
  • Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ oz vodka (plain or vanilla)

  • ½ oz Kahlúa (or any coffee liqueur)

  • ½ oz Irish cream liqueur (like Baileys)

  • ½ oz chocolate syrup (or mocha liqueur for a stronger kick)

  • Ice

  • Optional garnish:

    • Whipped cream

    • Chocolate drizzle

    • Cocoa powder

    • Chocolate shavings

    • Espresso bean (for aesthetics)

Instructions

1. Chill Your Shot Glass:

Start by placing your shot glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink. This keeps the final pour velvety smooth and pleasantly cold.

2. Fill the Shaker with Ice:

Grab your cocktail shaker and fill it halfway with ice. This will cool the ingredients quickly while blending them evenly.

3. Pour in the Liquors:

Add the following to your shaker:

  • ½ oz vodka

  • ½ oz Kahlúa

  • ½ oz Baileys Irish Cream

  • ½ oz chocolate syrup or mocha liqueur

The balance here is critical—the vodka adds backbone, the Kahlúa gives a roasted edge, the Baileys adds creaminess, and the chocolate syrup ties it all together.

4. Shake Vigorously:

Put the lid on your shaker and shake it like you mean it for 15–20 seconds. You want everything ice-cold and fully integrated.

5. Strain into the Glass:

Remove your chilled shot glass from the freezer or dump out the ice water. Strain the mixture into the glass. The color should be a luxurious deep mocha brown with a creamy sheen.

6. Garnish (Optional but Recommended):

Top with a small dollop of whipped creamdrizzle of chocolate syrup, a dusting of cocoa powder, or even a curled chocolate shaving for flair.

7. Serve Immediately:

The Mocha Mudslide Shot is best enjoyed cold, creamy, and freshly poured. Sip slowly or take it in one delicious gulp.

Notes

This shot is technically a mini-dessert cocktail, so you can even serve it in mini coupe glasses for a fancier presentation. The cream content makes it ideal for after-dinner sipping, but it’s just as welcome at boozy brunches, especially when paired with coffee or sweet pastries.

The Mocha Mudslide Shot also bridges the gap between classic and contemporary. It builds on the traditional mudslide recipe but compresses it into an elegant, single-sip moment that’s perfect for modern entertaining.
