Neon Citrus Storm

  • Author: Jessica
  • Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

This recipe serves 1–2 drinks. Easily scaled up for larger events.

🌟 Main Ingredients:

  • ½ cup fresh orange juice (chilled)

  • ¼ cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

  • ¼ cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)

  • ½ cup lemon-lime soda or tonic water (chilled)

  • 2 tsp simple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)

  • 1–2 drops neon green or electric yellow food coloring (for a radiant hue)

  • ¼ tsp edible glitter (yellow, green, or iridescent)

❄️ Optional:

  • Tonic water ice cubes (to glow under blacklight)

  • Regular ice cubes

🌿 Garnish:

  • Lemon and lime slices

  • Orange peel twist

  • Mint sprig

  • Glow straw or lightning-shaped stirrer

Instructions

Step 1: Juice the Citrus

  • Squeeze fresh orangelemon, and lime juice into a measuring cup or small pitcher.

  • Strain if desired for a smoother texture.

Step 2: Sweeten the Storm

  • Stir in simple syrup or honey. Adjust the amount to your preferred level of sweetness.

Step 3: Add the Glow

  • Drop in 1–2 drops of neon food coloring. Start with one drop—stir and assess.

  • Sprinkle in edible glitter and mix gently. It should shimmer through the drink like electric stardust.

Step 4: Chill & Sparkle

  • Fill a glass with ice cubes or tonic water ice cubes if you’re going for the blacklight effect.

Step 5: Pour & Fizz

  • Pour the citrus mixture into the glass, then top with lemon-lime soda or tonic water.

  • Stir gently to keep the glitter suspended.

Step 6: Garnish Like a Storm

  • Garnish with a slice of lemon or lime, a twist of orange peel, and a sprig of mint.

  • Add a glow straw or novelty lightning-shaped stirrer for effect.

Notes

  • Glowing Ice Cubes: Freeze tonic water in ice trays for an eerie glow under blacklight. The quinine in tonic water fluoresces beautifully.

  • Color Customization: Want it more neon yellow? Add more yellow food coloring. Want it more lime green? Add a hint of blue.

  • Chill Is Key: Use cold ingredients and plenty of ice to keep your drink crisp and refreshing.
