- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and sugar over low heat, stirring until combined.
- Remove from heat and stir in the graham cracker crumbs until well mixed.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×9 inch pan to form the shortbread layer.
- In another saucepan, heat the sweetened condensed milk and caramel over low heat until smooth.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the shortbread layer and spread evenly.
- Melt the semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips together in a microwave or double boiler.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and spread evenly.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Allow the shortbread to come to room temperature before serving for best texture.
