- 1 lb spicy Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the spicy Italian sausage over medium heat until fully cooked.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Add the penne pasta and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked al dente.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.

- For a milder dish, use sweet Italian sausage instead of spicy.
