- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast, let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking soda.
- Add the yeast mixture and pumpkin puree to the dry ingredients, and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In another bowl, mix cream cheese and a bit of sugar until smooth.
- Roll out the dough, spread the cream cheese mixture, and roll it up to form a log.
- Cut the log into bagel shapes and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Boil the bagels in water for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For a sweeter bagel, add more sugar to the cream cheese mixture.
- These bagels can be frozen for later use.
- Serve warm with additional cream cheese if desired.
