Pumpkin Cream Cheese Swirl Bagels are a delightful combination of soft, chewy bagels swirled with a rich and creamy pumpkin cream cheese filling, perfect for fall mornings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast, let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking soda.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and pumpkin puree to the dry ingredients, and knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. In another bowl, mix cream cheese and a bit of sugar until smooth.
  6. Roll out the dough, spread the cream cheese mixture, and roll it up to form a log.
  7. Cut the log into bagel shapes and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Boil the bagels in water for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a sweeter bagel, add more sugar to the cream cheese mixture.
  • These bagels can be frozen for later use.
