A comforting dish of layers of creamy potatoes, savory ham, and melted cheese, perfect for gatherings and holiday feasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika for garnish

  3. Combine heavy cream and milk in a mixing bowl, seasoning with salt and pepper. Whisk until blended.
  4. Grease your baking dish generously, then layer half of the sliced potatoes, half of the ham, and half of the cheese. Repeat and finish with the last of the cheese.
  5. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the layers.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to form a golden crust.
  8. Garnish with paprika before serving.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Assemble the dish the night before and bake it fresh in the morning. You can also substitute ham with rotisserie chicken.
