Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Glass
Start by creating your sugar rim. Pour a little lemon juice on a small plate, and spread blue sugar on another plate. Dip the rim of your cocktail glass into the lemon juice, then roll it in the blue sugar until it’s evenly coated. This step adds a pop of sparkle and a playful contrast to the drink.
Step 2: Chill the Glass (Optional)
Place your garnished glass in the freezer or fridge to chill while you prepare the cocktail. A cold glass enhances the overall drinking experience and keeps the whipped cream garnish from melting too fast.
Step 3: Shake the Magic
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour in 2 oz blue curaçao, 1 oz coconut rum, 1 oz pineapple juice, ½ oz lemon juice, and ½ oz simple syrup. Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is frosty and the ingredients are well combined.
Step 4: Strain and Serve
Remove your prepared glass from the freezer. Strain the mixture from your shaker into the glass over fresh ice, or serve it straight up if you prefer a martini-style presentation.
Step 5: Garnish Like a Wizard
Top the drink with a generous swirl of whipped cream. You can even sprinkle edible glitter on top or add a cocktail umbrella or blue gummy candy for a whimsical finish.
Step 6: Sip and Be Enchanted
Serve immediately and enjoy the looks of awe and excitement from anyone you hand it to. The magic has officially begun.
Notes
While this cocktail is best served fresh, you can prepare a large batch of the liquid ingredients ahead of time. Simply scale the recipe up and store the mix in a sealed pitcher in the refrigerator. When ready to serve, shake individual portions with ice and garnish. The sugar rim and whipped cream should be applied at the time of serving for the best presentation.
For parties, consider freezing the premixed drink into ice cube trays, then blending with additional ice to make a frozen version of Smurf’s Magic Potion—perfect for summer!
