Ingredients

- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into strips and twist them into a spiral shape.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the twisted donuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is at the right temperature to avoid greasy donuts.
- These donuts are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a day.
