Sour Patch Martini

  • Author: Jessica
  • Total Time: 5–7 minutes

Ingredients

For One Serving:

  • 1 ½ oz citrus vodka

  • ½ oz sour apple schnapps

  • ½ oz lemon juice (freshly squeezed for the best flavor)

  • ½ oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • 1 dash orange liqueur (optional) – e.g., Cointreau or triple sec

  • Ice

  • Garnish:

    • Sour Patch Kids candy

    • Sugar or crushed Sour Patch Kids for rimming the glass

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Glass

  1. Chill a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes.

  2. To rim the glass:

    • Moisten the rim with a lemon wedge.

    • Dip into either plain sugar or crushed Sour Patch Kids for an eye-catching and flavorful edge.

    • For crushed candy, pulse Sour Patch Kids in a food processor or crush by hand inside a sealed plastic bag.

Step 2: Shake the Cocktail

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

  2. Add:

    • 1 ½ oz citrus vodka

    • ½ oz sour apple schnapps

    • ½ oz lemon juice

    • ½ oz simple syrup

    • 1 dash orange liqueur (if using)

  3. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds. The mixture should be icy cold and lightly frothy.

Step 3: Strain and Serve

  • Strain into your prepared, chilled glass.

  • Use a fine-mesh strainer for an extra smooth pour.

Step 4: Garnish

  • Thread a few Sour Patch Kids onto a cocktail skewer or place them on the rim of the glass.

  • For extra flair, float a single candy in the center of the martini if serving immediately.

Notes

The Sour Patch Martini is as bold in flavor as it is in concept. It begins with a punch of sour lemon and green apple, followed by a subtle sweetness that smooths out the experience. The dash of orange liqueur adds complexity, echoing the layered flavors of the original candy. The rim and garnish elevate it from a simple drink to a full sensory treat.

This is not a shy cocktail—it’s loud, playful, and unapologetically fun. Just like Sour Patch Kids, it’s a little sour, a little sweet, and completely addictive.
