Ingredients
-
๐ 1.5 oz fresh lemon juice โ Use freshly squeezed lemons for vibrant, natural citrus flavor.
-
๐ฏ 1 oz simple syrup or honey syrup โ Balances the acidity and adds a gentle sweetness. Adjust based on your taste preference.
-
๐ฆ 1 oz heavy cream or cream liqueur โ Provides luscious texture. Baileys or vanilla cream liqueur works beautifully as alternatives.
-
๐ฅ 3-4 oz chilled sparkling wine, champagne, or prosecco โ Adds effervescence and festive bubbles. Choose a dry or brut style for the best balance.
-
๐ง Ice cubes โ For chilling the cocktail ingredients during shaking.
-
๐ Lemon twist or thin lemon wheel โ For garnish and aroma.
-
๐ฟ Fresh mint sprig (optional) โ Adds color and refreshing scent as garnish.
Instructions
Step 1: Add fresh lemon juice, simple syrup or honey syrup, and heavy cream (or cream liqueur) into a cocktail shaker. Add ice cubes generously to chill the mixture thoroughly.
Step 2: Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. This chilling and mixing will create a slightly frothy texture as the cream and lemon juice blend beautifully.
Step 3: Strain the shaken mixture into a chilled coupe or flute glass, filling it about halfway to allow room for the sparkling wine.
Step 4: Slowly pour the chilled sparkling wine or champagne over the lemon-cream mixture. Pour gently to preserve the bubbles and create a layered sparkling effect.
Step 5: Garnish with a lemon twist or a thin wheel of lemon on the rim of the glass. Optionally, add a fresh mint sprig for a burst of green and fresh aroma.
Notes
- Fresh Lemon Juice is Essential: Bottled lemon juice tends to be more acidic and less fresh-tasting. For the best flavor, always use fresh lemons.
- Shake Well: To blend the cream and lemon juice thoroughly and achieve a frothy texture, vigorous shaking is important.
- Add Sparkling Wine Last: Pour sparkling wine gently after straining the shaken mixture. This preserves carbonation and creates a beautiful layered effect.
