- 3 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices in a bowl and set aside.
- Beat together the brown sugar and oil until smooth.
- Add the buttermilk and applesauce, mixing until fully integrated.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time and add the vanilla extract.
- Combine the dry and wet mixtures, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into a prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool the cake in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
- Beat the cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy for the frosting.
- Add the sifted confectioners’ sugar and vanilla extract.
- Frost the cooled cake with the cream cheese frosting.
Notes
