Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk and eggs.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Fold in the diced apples.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove fritters and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter.
- These fritters are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- Experiment with different spices like allspice or ginger for a unique twist.
