Description

Strawberries & Cream Semifreddo is a delightful frozen dessert that combines the sweetness of strawberries with the creaminess of whipped cream, perfect for hot summer days.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup of sugar and let them macerate for about 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with the remaining sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg whites with salt until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the whipped cream into the egg whites until well combined.
  5. Fold in the macerated strawberries, including their juices, until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the mixture into a loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
  8. To serve, slice and enjoy the semifreddo straight from the freezer.

Notes

  • For a more intense strawberry flavor, you can blend half of the strawberries into a puree.
  • This dessert can be made a day in advance for convenience.
