Strawberry Citrus Drop

  • Author: Jessica

Ingredients

  • 1 oz strawberry vodka 🍓 (use flavored vodka for a strong berry essence)

  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice 🍋 (freshly squeezed for brightness)

  • 1/2 oz triple sec 🍊 (adds a soft orange citrus complexity)

  • 1/2 oz simple syrup 🍯 (for a touch of balanced sweetness)

  • Ice ❄️ (enough to shake and chill the drink)

  • Sugar 🍬 (for rimming the glass)

  • Fresh strawberry and lemon wheel (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Glass:

    • Take a chilled martini or coupe glass and gently rub a lemon wedge around the rim.

    • Dip the rim into a shallow plate of sugar, twisting slightly to ensure full coverage.

    • Set the glass aside in the refrigerator or freezer while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. Mix the Cocktail:

    • In a cocktail shaker, add ice until about ¾ full.

    • Pour in 1 oz strawberry vodka1 oz lemon juice1/2 oz triple sec, and 1/2 oz simple syrup.

    • Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds. The goal is to chill the drink well and lightly aerate it for a smoother texture.

  3. Strain and Serve:

    • Remove your sugar-rimmed glass from the fridge/freezer.

    • Double strain the cocktail (through a fine mesh sieve, if available) into the prepared glass to remove any ice shards or pulp for a smooth finish.

  4. Garnish:

    • Add a fresh strawberry on the rim or skewered on a cocktail pick.

    • Float a lemon wheel inside the drink or place it on the rim for an extra pop of color and flavor.

Notes

  • Premix Ingredients: You can prepare a large batch of the base (vodka, lemon juice, triple sec, simple syrup) and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days.

  • Rim Glasses Ahead: Sugar-rimmed glasses can be prepped a few hours before serving and kept chilled.

  • Skip the Ice Until Serving: Don’t add ice to pre-batched cocktails until serving to avoid dilution.

  • Garnishes: Slice strawberries and lemon wheels in advance and store them in airtight containers in the fridge.
