Tidal Wave Cocktail

  • Author: Jessica
  • Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

These ingredients come together to form a powerhouse of tropical flavor:

  • 🍍 1 oz pineapple juice – sweet and tangy island flavor

  • 🥥 1 oz coconut rum – adds creamy tropical notes

  • 🍋 1/2 oz lemon juice (fresh squeezed) – gives it a citrusy kick

  • 🍊 1 oz blue curaçao – for orange flavor and that vivid blue hue

  • 🧊 1 oz white rum – smooth and clean base spirit

  • 🍒 1/2 oz simple syrup – to balance the tartness

  • 💦 Splash of soda water or lemon-lime soda (optional) – for a bit of fizz

  • 🧊 Ice – crushed or cubed

  • 🍍 Pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry for garnish

  • 🧂 Optional: coarse sugar or salt for rim

Instructions

Step 1: Chill Your Glass

Before you even start mixing, place your cocktail glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill it. A cold glass enhances the drinking experience and keeps your cocktail refreshing longer.

Step 2: Rim the Glass (Optional)

If you want to add flair, run a lemon wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip it in coarse sugar or salt for a festive touch.

Step 3: Combine the Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour in the pineapple juice, coconut rum, lemon juice, blue curaçao, white rum, and simple syrup. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty.

Step 4: Strain and Serve

Discard the ice from your chilled glass. Strain the cocktail into the glass over fresh ice (crushed ice is best for the beachy vibe, but cubes work too).

Step 5: Garnish and Add Sparkle

Top with a splash of soda water or lemon-lime soda if desired. Garnish with a pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry, and a cocktail umbrella if you’re feeling festive. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing tidal wave of flavor!

Notes

Even though you’re not cooking anything, the right technique makes a difference:

  • Shake with enough force to chill and slightly dilute the drink—don’t just stir.

  • Use fresh lemon juice for the brightest flavor. Bottled juice can taste metallic.

  • Crushed ice works better than cubed for a more refreshing, tiki-style presentation.
