  • Author: Jessica
  • Total Time: 100 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Indulge in the rich, buttery flavor of Traditional Southern Pecan Pie, where the smooth, caramel-like filling contrasts beautifully with the crunchy, toasted pecans. Each bite offers a delightful balance of sweetness and nuttiness, enveloped in a flaky, golden crust that melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the crust:
    • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 34 tablespoons ice water
  • For the filling:
    • 1 cup light corn syrup
    • 1 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt for the crust. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Place the crust in the pan and trim excess.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  6. Stir in pecans and pour the filling into the prepared crust.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. The pie should jiggle slightly in the center.
  8. Let cool completely before serving to allow the filling to firm up.

  • This pie can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
