Description

Vanilla Chai Pear Butter is a delicious and aromatic spread made from ripe pears, infused with the warm spices of chai and a hint of vanilla, perfect for fall.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups ripe pears, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the chopped pears and lemon juice.
  2. Add sugar and spices to the pot, stirring well to combine.
  3. Cook over medium heat until the pears are soft, about 20-30 minutes.
  4. Use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth.
  5. Continue to cook the mixture on low heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens, about 30-45 minutes.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Pour the hot pear butter into sterilized jars and seal immediately.

Notes

  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • This pear butter can also be canned for longer storage.
  • Adjust the sugar according to the sweetness of the pears used.
