  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (tart varieties like Granny Smith)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional; walnuts or pecans)
  • 1 cup streusel topping (mix of butter, flour, brown sugar, oats, and cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Mix the flour, baking powder, and ground cinnamon in a separate bowl, then incorporate this into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the diced apples and chopped nuts (if using).
  6. Layer half of the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle half of the streusel topping over it.
  7. Pour the remaining batter over the streusel layer and top with the remaining streusel.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool slightly before serving.
