Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Meatballs:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
    • 1 egg
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • For the Mushroom Gravy:
    • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
    • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
    • 2 cups beef broth
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 2 tbsp flour
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Mashed Potatoes:
    • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1/4 cup butter
    • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until browned and cooked through.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and mushrooms, sautéing until softened, about 5 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture and stir for 1 minute to cook the flour.
  7. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. Stir in heavy cream and season with salt and pepper. Add the baked meatballs to the gravy and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  9. For the mashed potatoes, boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
  10. Add milk and butter to the potatoes, mashing until smooth and creamy. Season with salt to taste.
  11. Serve the meatballs over the mashed potatoes, drizzled with mushroom gravy.
