- 2 slices of hearty bread (sourdough or whole grain)
- 2 slices of cheese (American, cheddar, or Gruyère)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Optional fillings (crispy bacon, fresh tomato slices, or ripe avocado)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Butter one side of a slice of bread and place it butter-side down in the skillet.
- Add slices of cheese on top, and layer any optional fillings if desired.
- Butter another slice of bread on one side and place it butter-side up on top.
- Cook until the first side is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until the cheese is melted and the bread is perfectly toasted.
Notes
For a lighter texture, consider using an air fryer at 350°F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
